Nigerian Men are Not Romantic - Simi

Nigerian music sensation, Simisola Ogunleye simply known as “Simi” has declared her opinion on what she feels about Nigerian men. The sonorous singer gave her bit about Nigerian men in an interview with Punch and mentioned her distaste for the demi-god nature Nigerians ascribe to men in relationships.

According to the X3M music act, mothers fail to dish out blames to male children but always vent their anger when their female daughters and go wrong. She cited a situation where a cheating Nigerian man is caught in the act and his wife is asked to go on her knees to beg the man. This, she feels is not good enough and further explained her notions as she distanced herself from trying to shade men.

“A lot of men who grow up in this country feel entitled to certain things and they believe that they don’t have to work for anything. This has been the case for generations and a lot of our mothers were unhappy because the society expected them to stay in the relationship.” Simi said mothers should be blamed for their roles in chastising the daughters and never the sons.” she said.

“I am not saying it is the right thing for people to leave their relationships but a man needs to fight for what he wants so he can value it. I think the problem is because a lot of Nigerian men feel self-entitled and I blame our culture and our mothers. Most mothers are the problem because when something happens, they are quick to advise the daughter and wives, they don’t tell the men that their actions are wrong. So if a man feels that he does not have to fight to keep the relationship, he would not.”

Simi, who has been rumoured to be in a relationship with Falz due to their very noticeable bond also had bits to say about her relationship as she talked about the bliss and thrills of being in love.

The singer who recently released her sophomore album, Simisola with nice renditions like “Joromi”, ” Smile for Me” and others has for sometime now also been linked to be in a love affair with Adekunle Go
